Robin Kroener's Photographic Journal: Maori Cultural Experience, Rotorua
Rotorua is situated inside the rim of a volcano. Standing most anywhere in the city, you can see the full rim circling the city. We spent an entire morning at the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute and later experienced their rich culture at the Tamaki Maori Village, which I highly recommend (www.maoriculture.co.nz). We shared a hongi, a Maori greeting in which you press noses twice. We watched an awesome performance of a haka and enjoyed a delicious hangi feast, wherein the food is cooked/steamed in an earth oven.
