Site Updates
18 May 2007
Techy update - converted site to proper html and css (and a bit of javascript for the popup photos). Also, since I haven't done an update in such a long time, I put up one track from the "upcoming" release of The Immortal Say Yes To Apes. This will be a full album's worth of previously unreleased material (except for a version of "This Is Your Lucky Night"). Steve Watson, fearless leader of the TV Eye label, reports that the project is in the final packaging stage. Perhaps a thirtieth anniversary release, but we hope it's before then.

Thinking a lot about Kev lately... Uploaded a lovely article from the Christchurch Press that includes an interview with Kevin and a few photos from when he first joined the Court Theatre, for his first appearance in the two-person play "Europe." Click on the thumbnails.

Updated fan site links on the Resources page, and added a heap of tribute sites and pages to the Tributes & Remembrances page, under "Fan Tribute Sites". It's incredibly heartwarming to see how many Kev sites are still online.

A joyous day indeed, as I quite unexpectedly happened upon a copy of Rip It Up with a very cool syta interview. The band member portraits must be seen to be believed. Also, a "Garden of Lycanthropy" review by celebrity fan Russell Brown, from the same issue.

I've updated dvd release information for Warriors of Virtue: Return to Tao, though it's still not known when the U.S. release is. Also, I've put up a link on the home page about a wonderful raffle of a rare piece of Michael Hurst memorabilia, proceeds to benefit Kevin's Trust Fund.

Coupla things. First, two inserts found inside a copy of "Who's That." One's an advert for the Picnic Boys "Crumbs, It's A Pterodactyl," so that's where I put it. The other one wins for "best syta insert," and it can be found here (click on the link). Also, I managed to unearth a copy of the legendary fanzine "Ha Ha Ha", which has a great article about SYTA. Scanned in so as to preserve all the typos, which just adds to its charm. You can find it under "SYTA shows", 'cause I didn't know where else to put it.

Just a couple of pics, but great ones, from Hyphen-Ears' "Garden of Lycanthropy" release. Labels (cartoons by Kev) and an insert, with forewards written by the boys. Check 'em out!. (click on links underneath the front and back cover thumbnails)

Major updates and additions, long overdue.
- This "Updates" page.
- Finally finished putting up commentary and photos from my amazing trip to New Zealand.
- Added a ton of Say Yes to Apes scans in the music section (four of their tapes, Garden of Lycanthropy, their Full Deck comic book...). Best to just poke around.
- Filled in many missing dates for plays and TV shows. Too numerous to list.
- Added a bunch of scans (taken from the wonderful show aired on TV2 nearly a year ago now, "Remembering Kev: A Tribute to Kevin Smith"). There are now photos (or new photos) for the following TV shows: Crime Watch (such as it is, haha), McPhail & Gadsby, What Now (of Kev's Elvis impersonation), Gloss, A Bit After 10, McCormick (interview show with Gary McCormick from 1997), and 10AM (Theatresports Nationals). And also for the following plays: Encore: Are You Lonesome Tonight? The Elvis Presley Story, Into the Woods (a photo of Kev playing the part of the Wolf), Streetcar Named Desire (2001), and Othello.
- Added a link to the Kevin Smith Trust Fund online donation page to the bottom of every page (which is happily working *and* they even send you an email confirmation now).
- Added links to 95bFM (Auckland) and rdu 98.5fm (Christchurch) on the Online Resources page. Nuthin's cooler than listening to live NZ radio while you're working.
- Stuck a link to my Kev flash tribute at the bottom of the home page.
