Description:
(from Maidment's web site): Theatresports & Codswallop Productions present: The X Folios The Funniest Plays Shakespeare Never Wrote
Sept 28 - Oct 1 & Oct 5 - Oct 7.
The X Folios: Theatre flying by the seat of its breeches. Each night an audience will embark on a journey of improvised hilarity with Auckland's finest Shakespearian wannabes. Using audience suggestions, the actors will improvise a complete and entirely new Shakespearean masterpiece. You may have seen Theatresports or comedy improvisation before, but it's never been like this. The audience won't know what to expect
and neither will the actors.
Members of the company trained in Seattle for this exciting season, which is the first time a full-length improvised Shakespeare has been performed in the Southern Hemisphere.
Murderous revenge, unrequited love, disastrous tragedy and gender confusion are just a sampling of the heady themes that could be woven into a tangled web each night.
Which audience member will be crowned King or Queen to rule over this raucous comedy?
The ever-changing cast of players includes Kevin Smith, Penny Ashton, Mark Wright, Irene Malone, Cal Wilson, Glen Drake, Lori Dungey, Clare Kelso, Radar and many more. Live music is provided by Jason Smith and Neill Duncan.
It's a cast of thousands! (Or at least 10).
Forget "Shakespeare In Love" - this is "Shakespeare in Stitches."
